Festival Presentation
Created in 2001 under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and organised by the Maroc Cultures association, Mawazine is the unmissable gathering for music lovers and enthusiasts, drawing an average of over two and a half million attendees in recent years.
A privileged moment of discovery and sharing, the festival brings together each year in Rabat and Salé the biggest names in Arab, African and international music, alongside the finest artists from the Moroccan scene. In this regard, Mawazine represents a major launchpad for Moroccan musicians and singers, particularly the younger generations.
As a leading cultural event, the festival promotes the values of the Kingdom and carries a message of tolerance, openness, respect and dialogue. It is also part of a broader commitment to supporting the local economy, by fostering opportunities for tourism professionals and contributing to the development of a national music and live entertainment industry.
True to its founding mission, Mawazine also makes a major contribution to the democratisation of culture in Morocco by offering free access to 90% of its shows and concerts every year. This commitment has enabled the festival to gather more than 2.5 million spectators in recent years, ranking it second among the world’s largest music festivals and first across Africa.
